Saint Meinrad Archabbey was founded inwards 1854 past times monks from Einsiedeln Abbey inwards Switzerland.  Shortly later arriving inwards Indiana, the Benedictines began offering high schoolhouse courses to local youths. In 1861, the monks expanded their full general courses to include undergraduate courses inwards philosophy together with theology. Lay aeroplane programs were offered after 1969, when students worked on their degrees during a six-week Summer Session program. From the autumn of 1993 until 1998, the School expanded its mission to permit pose ministry building students to attend classes during whatever of the academic terms.  A graduate seminary together with schoolhouse of theology proceed at present.
