Tusculum College inward Tennessee announced this calendar week that it volition change its mention to Tusculum University showtime July 1, 2018. Tusculum is the "...oldest establishment of higher didactics inward Tennessee, the twenty-eighth oldest inward the nation, in addition to the oldest coeducational establishment affiliated amongst the Presbyterian Church (USA)."
Tusculum's traces its history to the founding of Martin's Academy inward 1784, after renamed equally Washington College. It was later was known equally Tusculum College after 1844. Tusculum merged amongst Greeneville College inward 1868 to instruct Greeneville & Tusculum College. The mention was shortened to Tusculum College inward 1912.
