The Stanly News & Press published, "College has served Stanly since 1971," amongst an historical sketch of Stanly Community College of Albemarle, North Carolina written past times Toby Thorpe.
The establishment initially offered classes inwards 1969 equally the Stanly Adult Education Center. In 1971 it became the Stanly Technical Institute. The establishment was renamed equally Stanly Technical College inwards 1979 together with Stanly Community College inwards 1986 equally programs expanded together with enrollment grew.
